okay, this is not really a «good» mati review post. like, i really wanted to show you more interesting stuff here, but i don't have anything to show you, so this is kind of an off-series post — which is why it has a date and not a number there. mati review #3 will come out but idk when.

i finally managed to have an active discord server

if you've known me for long enough (especially two years or more), you've known i've tried to start discord servers for me and my friends multiple times, but none of them actually ended up working out beyond like a week of activity.

this one i started now, though, seems to be okayishly active. don't know what it's going to be like in a month or so from now, but it seems to be fine for the time being.

a fun thing i decided to do this time round is that we have boards: channels for each member (the ones that ask for one, that is, you don't have to have one) to post whatever they want. mine is mostly linguistics, and sometimes vocaloid songs that i like.

also check this out! me and four friends from the server have been matching icons for a few days now:

(don't get mad if the server dies in like two more weeks though as is generally par for the course with how these things go)

  • u r my nightmare by shinra-bansho. i just love how the mv was made, they drew everything on paper and they just overlay the drawings on top of each other for the animation!

  • this kind of reminds me of another very creative mv i saw about two? years ago, the one for dear hypnos, a vocaloid song. the letters in the lyrics were all drawn with cotton balls!

also, deco*27 posted a new song, マシュマロ marshmallow, which... i didn't really like to be honest. it's not bad, but i think deco*27 just doesn't cut it for me anymore nowadays. do give it a listen though, i think you might like it.

(actually i am listening to that one song as i'm writing this, and it's not as bad as i thought... i guess there's just a lot of songs that i simply do not like the first time i listen to them, but then after listening to them again i enjoy them more. this happens to me with most pinocchio-p songs, as well)

i feel like making a conlang but i can't be bothered

recently i've been feeling like i should make a conlang. ideally something that's like, idk, kind of realistic? but also silly. throw in some in-jokes in there, but make it like, a speakable jokelang of sorts. no kitchen-sink features like inflection for «size relative to a breadbox» or whatever.

i guess i just have to make my language juices flow in some way?? and just learning a new language won't cut it, not even a conlang (as interesting as learning lojban has been). i feel like i have to make one. but i can't even consistently write for this blog, so i don't think i have what it takes to make a whole language lol

i won't have class at uni next week! yay

so, this week i still (sadly) have classes. (man, today i have an intro to linguistics 2 class with a professor who is not bad or anything but his classes are boring. same for history of japan tomorrow, help me. at least i canceled intro to literary studies 2 with that one prof that i absolutely hate — that's a problem for tomorrow me, or rather, next-year me.)

next week though we don't have any classes because of some event. you get like extra credits or hours or whatever they're called if you watch the lectures, it's like this big event with all the departments of the university, but i just can't be bothered. even the intro to linguistics 2 prof i mentioned said that «most people just go home» (to visit their parents, like i will, i miss you mom!, and so on) during this event week... he did say that you should go because it's like a formative experience that might get you started with research but i don't care i want to go home

expect me to uhhhh... maybe actually write mati review #3 while i'm at my real home my parents' house! my mind just feels less clouded when i don't have to worry about all of my house chores..

anyway, i think that's all for today. sorry for not writing something that's interesting or different, this post was more of a rant or a journal entry than anything, but eh, i guess i felt like it.
